After a short stop at the charming fishing harbor of Nea Makri popular resort, our tour continues with the visit of the Marathon Archaeological Museum from where it’s just a short drive to the Marathon Battlefield with the impressive Tomb of the 192 Athenians who died defending their country against the Persians.Our next stop is at the Marathon Start Venue of the modern Athens Marathon Race, followed by the visit of the Marathon Race Museum (*depending on arrival time). After the visits, a break at the beautiful beach of Marathon is ideal for swimming and leisure as well as for enjoying a nice lunch by the sea in one of the charming local taverns.In the afternoon a nice drive to the South-East of Attica allows to visit Cape Sounio crowned by the glorious Temple of Poseidon overlooking the Aegean sea. Enjoy the breathtaking view of some of the greek islands during a coffee break before to head back to Athens.
