The site of Delphi, located in the south-west of Parnassus mountain, is of a great importance in the ancient Greek history and mythology. It was the religious as well as cultural centre of the Hellenic world in ancient times. There it was located the great oracle of Delphi, Pythia, where many heroes of the time and also city rulers and travelers went to her to offer her gifts, as a sign of gratitude but also to get guidance from her.
In our Delphi & Arachova full day organized tour, we will take you to the archaeological site as well as the museum, where you can see many relics and monuments of the time such as the famous Bronze statue of Charioteer. The statue was a gift from Polyzalos, the tyrant of Gela, which he dedicated to Apollo after he won the chariot race in the Pythian games in Gela in 478BC.
